Mr. Steve Burton, Hart College and Career Academy CEO/CTAE Director
Mr. Steve Burton is a Hartwell, Georgia native, and a 2007 graduate of Hart County High School. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree at Emmanuel College before going on to receive his Master's Degree and Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont College, in addition to receiving a Specialist in Administration Degree from Columbus State University.
Beginning his career as a second-grade and fifth-grade teacher at South Hart Elementary School, Mr. Burton has served in multiple positions in the Hart County Charter System and brings 12 years of experience in education to his new role as the CEO of the Hart College and Career Academy. He is a former English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher at South Hart Elementary School and Hartwell Elementary School, a STEAM Facilitator at Hartwell Elementary School, and most recently the Assistant Principal at North Hart Elementary School. In addition to his teaching and administrative positions, Mr. Burton has also coached Varsity Football, Varsity Baseball, Middle School Baseball and Softball.
Residing in the Cokesbury/Bullsnort Community, Mr. Burton is married to Samantha Burton, a Kindergarten teacher at Hartwell Elementary School. The couple have two children, Anna Grace (5 years old) and Trace (2 years old). Mr. Burton attends Flat Rock CME Church where he serves as a Trustee Officer and Minister of Music. He also owns a small farm with cattle, pigs, chickens, and goats. He is passionate about Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) and says he is "excited to serve the community that built me."
